Getting started

  1. Install Mint Shoppable Video from the Shopify App Store. The app home shows a setup checklist.
  2. Videos page: drop video files to upload them to your store's Shopify Files, or click Choose from Shopify Files. Shopify prepares new uploads for streaming, which usually takes a minute or two; the library shows when each video is ready.
  3. Open a video to give it a title, tag up to 6 products and (optionally) add captions.
  4. Galleries page: create a gallery and add videos in the order you want (up to 30 per gallery).
  5. Back on the app home, click Add to home page. Your theme editor opens with the Video carousel block ready to add; choose carousel or grid and the look, then click Save.

The blocks

  • Video carousel (all plans): a carousel or grid of video cards with poster images, optional titles and the first tagged product. Tapping a card opens the full-screen viewer.
  • Video stories (Pro): round bubbles; the viewer plays the gallery's videos one after another.
  • Product videos (Pro): add it to your product page template once. Each product page shows the videos tagged with that product (with "Also show this video on these products' pages" on); products without videos show nothing.
  • Floating video (Pro, app embed): a small video in a corner of chosen pages. Shoppers can close it for the rest of their visit.
  • Each block has a Gallery setting. Leave it empty to show your default gallery (set on the Galleries page). If the picker doesn't list your galleries, type the gallery's handle (shown in the app) into Or gallery handle.

The viewer

  • Plays with sound when a shopper opens it (some browsers start muted; the sound button turns it on). Videos play one after another.
  • Tagged products show next to the video (below it on phones) with price, options and Add to cart. Products are added with Shopify's cart; your theme's cart count updates.
  • Keyboard: ← → (or ↑ ↓) for the previous and next video, Space or K to play/pause, M for sound, C for captions, Esc to close. Swipe on phones. Focus stays in the viewer and returns to the video card when it closes.

Speed

  • A video block adds plain HTML with lazy-loaded poster images, a small stylesheet and a loader script of about 1.3 KB (gzipped). The player script loads only when a video block comes near the screen, or when a shopper taps a video first. The floating video loads its script after the page has finished loading.
  • Videos never preload. One muted preview at most plays at a time (the most visible card), only while it's on screen, never for shoppers who prefer reduced motion or use data saving, and shoppers can pause previews with the Pause videos button. You can switch previews off in the block.
  • Galleries are rendered by your theme from Shopify data (app-owned metaobjects), so your storefront doesn't call the app's servers to show them.

Video limits (Shopify's)

  • MP4, MOV or WebM, up to 1 GB and 10 minutes each, up to 4K. H.264 MP4 works best.
  • Shopify limits video storage and the number of video uploads per store depending on your Shopify plan (for example, fewer on Basic than on Advanced). If you reach a limit, the app tells you; delete unused videos in Content → Files.
  • The app itself never counts or limits views.

Plans

  • Free: one gallery with up to 3 videos, the carousel/grid block and the shoppable viewer. A small “Powered by Mint Shoppable Video” link shows under the gallery.
  • Pro ($5.99 / month, 7-day free trial): unlimited videos and galleries, stories, product page videos, the floating video and analytics, with no app branding. One monthly price — no view, video or order limits, no usage fees.
  • To upgrade, downgrade or cancel, open Plans in the app and click Choose a plan (or Manage plan on Pro): Shopify's plan page opens, and you come back to Plans when you're done. Shopify bills the plan on your regular invoice; a move from Pro to Free takes effect at the end of the billing cycle you already paid for.
  • Downgrading keeps everything; only your default gallery's first 3 ready videos stay on your storefront until you upgrade again.

Uninstalling

Uninstalling removes the blocks from your theme and the app's data from your store (its metaobjects). Your videos stay in your Shopify Files. The app's records are deleted 48 hours later.
